Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan Supporters: A Gang of Unruly Thugs

Wonders will never end in Yobe North as Nigeria's Senate President, his unscrupulous cronies, and rogue supporters attempt to transform the region into a cauldron of violence. Certainly, the unsophisticated drama Ahmed Lawan is playing would eventually bring him tough public ridicule. Yesterday, a group of hooligans led by the Senate President's camp tried to incite political violence in Bade, the hometown of the incumbent Senate President. 

Despite my resolve not to engage with any of the Senate President supporters since it makes no sense. However, the recent episodes in Gashua are just too irresponsible and harmful to be silent about. The new violent tactics employed by Ahmed Lawan's camp to scare and maybe pressure Hon. Bashir Sheriff Machina supporters into silence are heinous and against the campaign manifesto of Machina. This is why I am writing against the voices that nearly wreaked havoc yesterday in Bade, Gashua.

Bashir Sheriff Machina is without a doubt the authentic APC candidate for Yobe North Senatorial Seat. The reason for this is that Machina was the only winner of the Yobe North senatorial primary election a few months ago. Furthermore, a Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state, dismissed Lawan's despicable and laughable petition against Machina's valid candidacy. Moreover, the court has reiterated that Bashir Machina is the APC's legal candidate. Therefore, Lawan has no ground to contest that even at the Appeals Court. Again, the newly amended Electoral Acts have disqualified Lawan in so many sections. These alone can boil down the debate about who is authentic or not. However, the Senate President has demonstrated that he is still living in cloud cuckoo land.

For this reason, the aforesaid reality has Lawan and his camp up all night biting their fingers. This is why they are attempting to threaten Yobe North's peace so that INEC may declare the area as unstable to hold an election, which would benefit their immature logic. I'm calling on every Tom, Dick, and Harry in Lawan's camp to bring the temperature down. This is simply politics not war. Also, security agencies should take swift action before this reckless behavior spins out of control. If not, Lawan camp will continue to instigate terror attacks on peaceful Machina's camp. Besides, has Ahmed Lawan and his camp forgotten that the law only acknowledges what is lawful, not just sheer imbecility?

I also want to remind them that the clock of destiny has struck twelve, and there is nothing these unethical crimes can do to derail God's plan. As a consequence, it will be preferable for you and your principals to accept the outcome of your infantile decision-making that enticed you to seek presidential aspirations without properly preparing for its outcomes, positive or negative.

Furthermore, I will continue to emphasize that if Ahmed Lawan does not accept his fate with open hands, he would lose the respect some people have for him and his dignity would crawl down the drain in shame not just in Yobe North, but across Nigeria. He will be remembered as a greedy politician who chose the wrong spa saloon to massage his swollen ego. If I were him, I would have resigned to preserve the last vestiges of my reputation as one of the rubber-stamp Senate Presidents who helped President Buhari wreck Nigeria.

Bashir Sheriff Machina, on the other hand, is synonymous with peace. He urges us to embrace our better past. To choose unity and aspire to make Yobe North works for everyone, whether or not you vote for him. This is the message that Bashir is disseminating all over the place. Furthermore, we want someone with new insights who knows what the modern world demands. We are sick of Lawan's dark and meaningless policies, which have stifled our development for far too long. He has served in the National Assembly for nearly two decades, yet Yobe North has nothing to brag about.

Finally, I urge Machina's camp to avoid the voices that tempt us to launch a bloody assault on one another. It's important to understand that incidents like Gashua's are to be anticipated from any group that has not gotten what they need by every sleazy method in the book. As a result, avoid interacting with them when they show up. They will undoubtedly sap your enthusiasm for doing important things for Bashir Machina during this campaign. They want you to lose faith in the democratic process by frustrating you. This is a conspiracy theory designed to provide you with the false hope that Lawan will get the zone baton at all costs. For this reason, I want you to know that the system is as powerful as it has ever been. I also urge others who have yet to board Machina's salvation train to choose a promising future over hostility and division. It is now time to get fully Sheriffied!
