My 2022/23 Premier League Team of the Season
My nominated team via PL (EASport FUT23) |
Presenting my Premier League team of the season, selected based on merit alone. Although I had hoped to include David de Gea as the goalkeeper and Bruno Fernandez as CM, unfortunately, they were not nominated by the officials responsible for the selection process. Nevertheless, I have carefully considered each player's performance and believe that the following individuals deserve recognition:
Goalkeeper: Nick Pope (Newcastle United) Pope has had an exceptional season, as evidenced by the numerous clean sheets he has helped secure.
LB: Luke Shaw (Manchester United) Shaw has been outstanding this season, impressing not just Manchester United fans but even rival supporters with his performances. He has demonstrated his versatility by performing well in various positions, including as a left center back in several games.
LCB: Lisandro Martinez (Manchester United) Despite initial doubts about his height, Martinez has silenced his critics with his tenacity, accurate passing, and ability to help Manchester United keep 14 clean sheets this season. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a recent injury.
RCB: Ruben Diaz (Manchester City) As a Manchester United fan, it pains me to admit that Diaz has had a fantastic season at Manchester City. He is a tough, experienced defender who has been instrumental to his team's success.
RB: Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United) Trippier's return to Newcastle United has been impressive, with his lethal set-piece skills and menacing attacks down the flank. He deserves recognition for his contributions this season.
CM: Martin Ødegaard (Arsenal) Ødegaard is one of the league's top young midfielders, and his impact on Arsenal's success this season cannot be overstated. He has contributed double-digit goals and assists and is a deserving addition to this team.
DM: Casemiro (Manchester United) Despite early doubts about his ability, Casemiro has become an integral part of Manchester United's resurgence this season. He is a solid defensive midfielder who can shut down opposing teams' attacks.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) De Bruyne is an exceptional player who consistently demonstrates his incredible passing skill and the ability to score screamers. If he maintains his current form, he will undoubtedly continue to feature in future Premier League teams of the season.
LW: Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) Rashford is in the best form of his career, having scored more than 28 goals this season. He shows no signs of slowing down and is a vital part of Manchester United's success.
ST: Erling Braut Haaland (Manchester City) Haaland may not be the type of striker that I prefer, but there is no denying his goal-scoring prowess. He is a prolific scorer who is always a threat to opposing defenses.
RW: Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) Saka has been excellent since the start of the season, contributing goals and assists while also showcasing his impressive skills and speed. He is a constant threat down the right side and deserves recognition for his outstanding performances.
This is my team of the season. What's yours?
